Birth of an Electronic Dance Music Community in Ghana

It’s been barely two months since the debut of Electric Vibez Carnival was held at the popular Chale Wote festival (an annual street art festival). The organisers of this carnival in association with EdmVibez.com and Level 8 Lounge have come up with another event to strengthen the Electronic Dance Music (EDM) community here in Ghana. This event, Networking in the sky : Electronic Dance Music community, is an event designed to bring producers, artistes, record labels, entertainment bloggers, graphic artistes, festival lovers, edm enthusiasts, etc. together to network, get to know each other, share ideas, and discuss the best ways to promote our African values in the Electronic Dance Music spectrum.

EDM is a broad range of percussive electronic music genres made largely for nightclubs, raves, and festivals. EDM is generally produced for playback by disc jockeys (DJs) who create seamless selections of tracks, called a mix, by segueing from one recording to another. EDM producers also perform their music live in a concert or festival setting.

The event will have Mr. Benjamin le Brave, founder off Akwaaba Music, and Mr. Green Gafacci (a renowned producer) as panelists to lead discussions on promoting EDM in our local music market and means to help develop the EDM community. Also representing will be the Excuse Our Music (EOM) Collective, with special performances from a number of talented artistes currently not publicised.

The list of guest appearances from the Ghanaian music industry and EDM industry as a whole is endless. In view of that this is a huge opportunity to network and build connections.

The event will be held at Level 8 lounge, located at the 8th floor of the Airport One Square Building, in Airport City on Wednesday, 4th October 2017, and it starts at 7 pm.
