Strongman at SarkCess; A Good Move or Not?

Spread the love

It came with joy at the camp of Strong Empire, Strongman’s management and fan body, when the most decorated Ghanaian artiste, Sarkodie signed the rapper, Strongman.

Various critics with different opinions commented on the move, with one side saying it’s the worst decision taken by Strongman. Others said a lot of artistes would kill for such opportunity. After 2 years of being signed, can we emphatically state that Strongman made a wise decision?

SarkCess Music is similar to a vanity label. It is defined as a label controlled by a successful artiste, but it has a parent company or label, and that’s what SarkCess lacks. Honestly, all that SarkCess has to offer is the connections and associations Sarkodie has already established. Also the fact that you’re under Sark’s umbrella makes one loved. Strongman has bought into Sark Nation (Sarkodie’s fan body), which is arguably the most loyal and largest fanbase in Ghana. That’s what they call the “Sark effect.” Surely, budgets for musical projects are handled by SarkCess.

Apart from the stated, I doubt Strongman enjoys anything more. The rest is left on his shoulders. So it’s left with him and his management to scheme. They plan the type of songs to release, how to release it, and how to remain on top, and probably submit it to Sarkodie for approval.

Truth be told, Strongman has widened his fan base after the SarkCess move. This may be due to the strategy he took towards his musical approach. Before SarkCess, Strongman sounded very generic. He would rap a lot with a call-and-respond hook. He made songs that were mostly loved by guys, probably because he wanted to prove that he’s an excellent rapper; a title not cherished by ladies.

The first song Strongman dropped under SarkCess featured Akwaboah. A classic masterpiece with a silky and easy-to-singalong hook, with straightforward rap verses. It’s evident at his shows. His social media is buzzing. Although he’s not as hot as Kwesi Arthur, he has improved over the 2 years at SarkCess, and is still in the process of writing more wins in his diary.

His beef with TeePhlow keeps him in Hip-Hop conversations. He has grown as a brand, and we look forward to more success at SarkCess. He may have not achieved his dream at his current label, he may have not enjoyed all the fruit of his labour, but with the above mentioned wins, we can consider the move to SarkCess a good one.
