The Untold Story of Offei

There are some people who you can always be optimistic about. Knowing Offei well for at least 4 years now, I can confidently point my finger at him for being an example. From the way he relates to people, to the positive aura surrounding him, Offei is definitely meant for this music and fame thing. For a person who always searches for happiness within, and doesn’t need the validation of anyone to consider himself a winner, he’ll always be victorious.

Personally, the music of my close friends don’t mostly move me. I mean, if I could tease you and still catch goose bumps when listening to your music during solitary moments, then you’re special. And that’s one of the many blessings Offei is graced with. After starving the public of good music for so many years, as long as Jay Electronica has been holding on to his debut, he got highly motivated when Ground Up posted his live performance of “Let It Go.”

The singer who doubles up as a guitarist got charged up and released the audio version of the classic featuring Ghanaian American-based poet, Kofi Genfi. “Let It Go” was successful at bringing extreme traffic to SteezeHub.com… intense traffic comparable to Okponglo-Shiashie stretch on a Monday morning. I actually knew that song would blow up, looking at the fact that he had a publication in Weekly Today newspaper, and trended for 2 days straight on Twitter, prior its release.

During the latter days of wrapping up his debut mixtape, producer, Paq featured Offei on “Communication”, and it became the people’s favourite. He then dropped my personal favourite, “Body Whine” produced by Woode for the Christmas season.

His greatest hit however stands to be “Human Being”, which features the new rap prince, Kwesi Arthur. “Human being no be god ei // dem no go fit show you nottin”, Offei sings and displays in the well visually represented video, directed by 2 Monkeys. With just 3 songs, he changed the Google search results for “Offei”, which used to be mostly filled with Bernice Offei headlines.

Currently he has the internet buzzing with “Lowkey.” He’s enjoying radio airplay with it, and ended up being curated as part of “Apple Music This Week” playlist. I can testify that his talent is boundless, and is here to stay. Starting off as dancer inspired by Terry Boncaka, to rapping his own verses, playing guitars to scriptwriting, Offei proves creativity is his portion.

Doubling up as a Medical Laboratory Scientist, Offei seeks to cause healing of people, whether it be physically, or touching the soul through music. He describes his style of music as an Afrofusion and he does music, basically to express his feelings and opinions about certain topics in life to a larger population.

He dreams of his fans listening to his music 20 years from now, having them reminisce about the fun times enjoyed. He wants his music to be that special wedding song somewhere. He desires that his music be the source of amusement and motivation for the world at large.

Offei – Lowkey (Prod. by Paq)

With 4 singles, Offei has cemented his brand on the Ghanaian music front. After the release of his much loved single “Human Being”, which features the VGMA Hip-Hop Song of the Year award winner, Kwesi Arthur, ears have been on the ground to at least eavesdrop on Offei’s soulful and powerful voice.

Upon keeping fans in anticipation for a while now, the Tema resident musician is ready to satisfy their hunger with “Lowkey.”

In our world today in which social media is as significant as water, there are 2 types of relationship. One which is demonstrated to the world and the other which is kept off public scene, like a secret relationship, a lot refer to it as ‘lowkey’ love.

Offei prefers the former. He wants to treat his lover good, and show her off, telling the world he’s blessed with a good woman. Known for using charming words, and blending Ga, English, Twi and Pidgin languages, Offei sings, detailing the depth of love he has for her.

He lays these infectious vocals on an Afrobeat instrumental, laced with both indigenous and modern Afro percussions, produced by ace hitmaking genius, Paq.

Offei Releases Another Banger “Body Whine” Produced by Wood

After marking his name with permanent ink and widening his fan base with the exceptional song “Human Being”, Offei is here to serve the world with the missing ingredient for parties and ‘link-op’ sessions this Christmas. “Body Whine” is the perfect song to evolve the excitement within you to the extremes. The vocalist lays smooth yet groovy lyrics on a mid-tempo incomparable Afropop instrumental produced by the genius, Wood. The elements involved in the instrumentation form the absolute recipe for a heated dance floor. MC Kojo Manuel put in some energy with his invigorating intro and outro. Now, let the jams officially begin with “Body Whine.”

Offei Releases Stunning Video for “Human Being” Featuring Kwesi Arthur

In the global music industry currently, new names are creeping up to occupy the huge thrones. Ghana is no different, as we have fresh breeds of artistes in a takeover. Offei happens to be a giant among these fresh wavy artistes. The composer of “Let It Go” features “Grind Day” hitmaker, Kwesi Arthur on this one. The song titled “Human Being” talks about the fact that we human beings are not God and that whatever our opinions be about a fellow human being, it is only what God has said concerning the person that stands.

Some people may think it is only through them that our success can be achieved, but little do they know that God has planned such blessings and it’s manifesting in our lives. Again as humans, we’re influenced by people around us, and if one keeps getting negative vibes, it’s very easy for that person to yield to such negativity. “Human Being” seeks to give a constant reminder that God has a better plan for us. Offei sings passionately about this concept, reechoing the statement “human being no be God”, as Kwesi Arthur lays a smooth and rich verse. In the end all things are good through God. We just have to keep our head high and hustle, One day surely, e go be. The song was produced by Paq and video directed by Skinny of 2 Monkeys Production Services.

Paq Ft. Offei – Communication (Prod. by Paq)

Analysis of the Christian account of creation by some scholars reveal that Adam failed to communicate well with his rib-created partner, Eve, when she convinced him to take the fruit. Great communication makes kings. Poor communication exterminates prosperity. A lot of great inventions that have been made since civilization are geared towards enhancement of communication — petroglyphs, pictograms, hieroglyphs, down to phone calls, Skype, WhatsApp, and reducing chats to 6 seconds snaps. This shows the power in communication. A great deal of relationships have ended up on rocks due to poor communication, but who’s counting?

Virtuosic singer and songwriter, Offei chooses to discuss this topic in his next single “Communication”. In two verses interspersed with a chorus, the “Let It Go” composer paints the picture of a modern day relationship in which a partner doesn’t see the need to freely discuss certain issues such as dislikes and wants, but expects the other to know. Offei believes that inasmuch as one is able to read minds, conversations about these issues are key in making a relationship as firm as igneous. Ace music producer, Paq provides an impeccable instrumentation for this mid-tempo Afropop classic, with heavy bass, melodic keys and refreshing guitar fills. Offei’s musical imagery is solidified with “Communication.” Good music has come to stay!
