The Untold Story of Offei

There are some people who you can always be optimistic about. Knowing Offei well for at least 4 years now, I can confidently point my finger at him for being an example. From the way he relates to people, to the positive aura surrounding him, Offei is definitely meant for this music and fame thing. For a person who always searches for happiness within, and doesn’t need the validation of anyone to consider himself a winner, he’ll always be victorious.

Personally, the music of my close friends don’t mostly move me. I mean, if I could tease you and still catch goose bumps when listening to your music during solitary moments, then you’re special. And that’s one of the many blessings Offei is graced with. After starving the public of good music for so many years, as long as Jay Electronica has been holding on to his debut, he got highly motivated when Ground Up posted his live performance of “Let It Go.”

The singer who doubles up as a guitarist got charged up and released the audio version of the classic featuring Ghanaian American-based poet, Kofi Genfi. “Let It Go” was successful at bringing extreme traffic to SteezeHub.com… intense traffic comparable to Okponglo-Shiashie stretch on a Monday morning. I actually knew that song would blow up, looking at the fact that he had a publication in Weekly Today newspaper, and trended for 2 days straight on Twitter, prior its release.

During the latter days of wrapping up his debut mixtape, producer, Paq featured Offei on “Communication”, and it became the people’s favourite. He then dropped my personal favourite, “Body Whine” produced by Woode for the Christmas season.

His greatest hit however stands to be “Human Being”, which features the new rap prince, Kwesi Arthur. “Human being no be god ei // dem no go fit show you nottin”, Offei sings and displays in the well visually represented video, directed by 2 Monkeys. With just 3 songs, he changed the Google search results for “Offei”, which used to be mostly filled with Bernice Offei headlines.

Currently he has the internet buzzing with “Lowkey.” He’s enjoying radio airplay with it, and ended up being curated as part of “Apple Music This Week” playlist. I can testify that his talent is boundless, and is here to stay. Starting off as dancer inspired by Terry Boncaka, to rapping his own verses, playing guitars to scriptwriting, Offei proves creativity is his portion.

Doubling up as a Medical Laboratory Scientist, Offei seeks to cause healing of people, whether it be physically, or touching the soul through music. He describes his style of music as an Afrofusion and he does music, basically to express his feelings and opinions about certain topics in life to a larger population.

He dreams of his fans listening to his music 20 years from now, having them reminisce about the fun times enjoyed. He wants his music to be that special wedding song somewhere. He desires that his music be the source of amusement and motivation for the world at large.
